A Generous Christmas, Zaira del Couz, 2nd Intermediate

A GENEROUS CHRISTMAS Once upon a time, a child called Celia who dreamed that Christmas was coming, loved walking down the street and seeing the Christmas lights around the town. Her parents told her that Santa Claus would bring gifts if she was well behaved and if she passed everything at school, so Celia, always wrote in a notebook the gifts she would ask Santa Claus for and studied hard at school. One day, she was walking around the city with her parents, Christmas lights were lit, the streets were full of lighting, that seemed magic. Suddenly, Celia saw a lady who was sitting on the floor, she was asking for alms to feed her son who was there with her. Celia was impressed and when they got home, she asked her mum if there were children who had nothing to eat and her mother told her that of course, there were many children in the world who had nothing to eat or drink, so she was very lucky. To her, those words from her mum were recorded, so that when she wrote the letter to Santa Claus, one of her wishes was that all the children in the world had something to eat and were not hungry. ……… It was Christmas Day and Celia opened the gifts Santa Claus had brought; she was very excited, she had asked for colouring books, dolls, a bicycle and most important, that no child starved in the world, but she couldn’t know if her wish had come true, so she asked her mum they go for a walk around town with her new bike and so she did. When they were going back home, Celia could see again the lady with her son and she asked her mother if she could give that child her new bike, so her mother said she could and so she did. The child was very happy with his new bike and Celia continued to use her old bike. She felt very happy and back to school told her friends what she had done.
