The Christmas Card

Once upon a time there was a family who lived in a small town in North London. The members of the family were Edward, the dad, Caroline, the mum, and their two children Sophie and Mark. They lived in a beautiful house with a huge garden. Mark and Sophie loved Christmas. They received a lot of presents and they decorated the house every year. The coloured lights that surrounded the house were amazing but the most important figure was the Christmas tree. The children placed the tall tree in the front of the house and it was the envy of all the neighbours. In this family Christmas was celebrated very grandly but to Caroline things were not easy and she lived these days with sadness and homesickness. A few years before her parents had died in a ski accident. The rescuers had found the lifeless body of her mother but not his father’s. They assumed that her father had been trapped under the snow and had also died. This situation was very hard for Caroline and the family tried to help her. Since this had happened she received an anonymous Christmas card every year. She didn’t know what to do. She thought it was a mistake, until one year she didn’t receive the postcard. Without knowing why she began to investigate. She discovered that the postcards she had received came from the Disabled Association in London so she decided to go there. When she arrived at the Association and she opened the door everyone was quiet and fascinated. Suddenly a man appeared in front of her. A man who didn’t want to be a burden to his family. The man smiled and Caroline said “ Dad?”. SONIA FERNÁNDEZ GONZÁLEZ, 2nd Intermediate
